Missing Password for 1st time installation of MySql (2 replies)

I downloaded for the 1st time MySql 5.7.9 for MAC OS X El Capitan. This Mac has never had an installation of any database so it is a fresh install. During the installation a password is given and expected to be copied. I wrote it down and moved on with the installation. Now I am suppose to open the application for the first time and start the database. It asked for that password. I have tried every version I can come up with from what I wrote down (I know I have the right letters and numbers and characters but the upper and lower case or zero versus letter O could be the problem) and cannot get it to work.

What should/can I do?

Reconfigure Connectivity Option from Named Pipe to TCP/IP in Installer (no replies)

I've installed MySQL 5.5.47 and I'm trying to reconfigure it from Named Pipe to TCP/IP using the reconfigure option in the installer.

When I select TCP/IP and deselect Named Pipe in the installer, and enter my current root password, it says it's not correct

When I switch back to Named Pipe, the password works

How can I switch my connection to TCP/IP?

Thanks

Access Front end + Remote MYSQL Server - Issues (no replies)

Hi,

Really am a total novice with both Mysql and MS Access, but have been put in the spot where I need to get a workstation up and running and talking to Mysql.

Mysql is running on a linux server.

Workstation is Windows 7 x64 with MS Access 32bit.

So I configured the connector in Admin Tools/Database Sources/SystemDSN

I can hit the test button and it connects to the server fine and confirms the account is fine.

Running the access front end, works fine until I hit a task to get data, I then get an "obdc failed to connect" (Or similar).

Its as if I have missed a step somewhere.

Done so much reading, its now begining to make confusion an doubt set in.

Any kind member out there, could offer any advice, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Unable to reinstall mySQL (1 reply)

Hi,
For one of my classes I needed to install MS Access and mySQL. The first time around installing MS Access was giving me so much trouble to the point where I had to system restore. But while system restoring it uninstalled SQL, but left all the system files affiliated with it. This caused even more problems it seemed.

I now am unable to install mySQL. I've gotten a variety of errors while installing from not being able to apply security settings in the very last step of installing SQL to the error I have now which is the following: "Internal Error.(Object reference not set to an instance of an object. The installer will now close.". This error pops up whenever I try to run the installer.

I've tried a lot of different things to resolve this issue. I have cleaned the registry, deleted all files I could find relating to mySQL, and uninstalling. Nothing has worked. System restoring again is not an option at this point as I don't believe I have a point that will go back that far.

I'm attempting to install MySQL 5.7.11 on Windows Server 2008, using the MySQL Installer, but during the configuration phase I am getting the following error message:

mysqld.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point TryAcquireSRWLockExclusive could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.

Also the MySQL service will not start...

Windows could not start the MYSQL57 service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How do I uninstall MySQL on Windows? (1 reply)

Sorry for the dumb question. 99/100 the answer is go to Control Panel => Programs & Features and uninstall MySQL. My problem is MySQL does not appear in the list of installed programs. MySQL does appear in the services app though. I'm not the one who installed it so I'm not exactly sure how it got into this state. How do I get rid of it?

Which MySQL Installer do I need? (no replies)

I have been in this same position with Oracle XE and now MySQL. There are dozens of installers with shades of or significant differences. I read for 30 minutes and selected an .msi MySQL installer tried to install it 8 times and was never able to access it... My situation:

I need MySQL on my work laptop (Windows 7 Pro 64) so I can have a PowerShell script connect to the MySQL DB (my current installer mysql-5.7.11-winx64.msi) to manipulate a few tables I will create.

Once I get my script accessing the MySQL properly, I will move the script to a production server that runs MySQL, hoping, but not knowing, there is enough similarity between my laptop and the server to enable the script to run. I have uninstalled all previous versions of MySQL.

That's it. Nothing fancy or involved.

Can you suggest an installer that will install on my machine that I can then connect to?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I get this error when trying to install MySQL: Error:0 cannot create Windows service for MySQL (no replies)

The notorious “Error 0” with MySQL installations when using the MySQL “Server Instance Configuration Wizard” indicates that the MySQL Wizard was unable to install, start or configure the new server you are attempting to setup. We find “Error 0” commonly occurs when there is a previous installation of MySQL on a Windows machine, or even hidden file remnants of an earlier MySQL installation. It is easy to conclude that a previous installation of MySQL has been completely expunged from your system, but one has to maniacally hunt down and extirpate all old configuration and data files before the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard will install a new MySQL database and start the Windows MySQL service. We recommend that you try the these steps if you see this error.

"MYSQL for Excel" automating connection to database via macro (2 replies)

Hi All,

I have to automate couple of things using macros in excel. I can do these functionalities using the software by clicking the buttons and giving database connection details manually.

But I want all these things to be taken care by a macro that runs on the excel startup.

I want a macro that takes care of the following functionalities via VBA Code(macro) using "MYSQL for Excel" software/addin for excel.

1. Connect to database
2. load all rows of a specific table in edit mode such that addition of new rows in excel should save back in database.

Thanks,
Uday Sagar.

I am facing the task to make some improvements to an old project written in VB6 that processes data from a MySql database.
VB6 development environment is only compatible up to Windows XP, so I have set up a new fresh virtual machine with Windows XP Professional (32 bit). I have installed VB6, .NET 4.0 and VS10 runtime. I have downloaded the Windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer; MD5 signature checked OK. But the installer refuses to start and on launch appears a message window stating: «Internal error. (This class is designed only for Windows Vista and higher.) The installer will now close.»
Is there a special version of the installer that runs on Windows XP? Where can I download it from?
Thank in advance.

Change server configuration type from MySQL installer (no replies)

I have MySQL server 5.6.29 on Windows 10 installed
The server configuration type is "Development Machine". I need to change it to "Server".
So I made this change in MySQL installer -> Reconfigure, click next, next, finish.
And then I click on reconfigure again the wizard shows that Server type is Development Machine.

And another strange thing: in MySQL Installer list of installed components I have MySQL Server 5.6.29 and Architecture is "Unknown" but it should be "x64", why?

Install mysql-installer-community-5.6.28.0 (no replies)

Trying to install mysql server 5.6.28 on a machine that must have had a previous version installed and then removed. Now when I try to install 5.6.28.0 I get the error: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'tmpA0C.tmp' in the box below.

In the Box it shows a path: C:\Users\Rick\AppData\Local\Temp

Then the install shuts down. I have searched the Registry and there are no MySQL links, there are no MySQL files on the drive.

Any suggestions: I really need some help with this.

Thanks in Advance.
