Data Dir reset during upgrade (1 reply)

Hi,

We have a 8.0.19 version upgraded towards the 8.0.32 version.
But after the upgrade the custom datadir (d:\data) was configured back to the default one (c:\programdata\mysql\mysql server 8.0\data)

How can this be corrected back to the initial (d:\data) dir?
I'm aware we can change the data dir in the my.ini file.

Can this be done so that the database/schemas (under d:\data) are visible again in the workbench tool?

Or should I backup the database, do the upgrade and then restore it into then new 8.0.32 environment?

Olá,

Baixei o MySQL, uma vez porem instalei errado e ao desisntalar e instalar novamente aparece um erro e o Mysql abre sem a opção de logar. Ao abrir em vez de boas vindas, aparce "o mysql workbench não pôde detectar nenhum servidor mysql em execução. isso significa que o mysql não está instalado ou não está em execução". Ja tentei executar em servicos da windons e nao aparece a opcao de MySQL. Ao instar ele apareceu um erro na aba de configuração do produto, onde dizia "Ocorreu uma exceção sem tratamento no aplicativo. Se você clicar em continuar, o aplicativo ignorará esse erro e tentará continuar. Se clicar em encerrar, o aplicativo será encerrado imediatamente." . Ja tentei excluir todas as pastas no computador referente ao MySQL, porem nada de funcionar, alguem poderia me ajudar por favor, necessito usar o programa e nao consigo, tenti usar a senha root que chorei na primeira vez que consegui criar e nao funciona tambem. Desde já agradeço.

Can anyone help me to install the MYSAL Connector which is required in order to connect a MYSQL Data source to Power BI

After installing the Connector, I am still getting the error "This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can used." The link takes you to a web page to download the MYSQL Connector.

I have downloaded the connector which is version 8.0.33 and installed the connector. I have restarted my Laptop as well as Power BI and still I get the pop-up error.



What am I not doing ????

I downloaded and ran the connector installer Windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer. It appears this resulted in a mySQL installation along with the workbench. I am able to create a database with tables and data using the workbench.

My objective is to use it with Android Studio and java. All docs I have read talk about importing a JAR file to get it working in Studio, but I cannot find the JAR file anywhere. Can someone tell me where to look or what else I need to do to get this working?

But the way I am trying is failing:

MySQLInstallerConsole.exe community install server;5.7.42;X86:*:server_type=Server;data_dir="c:\temp\ --silent

What am I doing wrong?

I have a 2 databases on my website. I saw that on cpanel and while moving my hosting services. One of them is less than 1 MB but dates back to 2016 and other one is of approx. 60 MB

And both of them seem be getting updated at same time. I saw in last modified time.

How should I know which one can I delete and which not ? Often confused before deleting if deleting those would disrupt functionality on my site : https://www.pacificeducation.in/

Hello Dear friends,



I have a next problem: I didn't manage to get data from a database. This happened after changing the database server and a database version. Before changing everything work fine, it was "MariaDB 10.5", after changing become MariaDB 10.11.

If I try to create a new connection I get an error:

--We encountered an error while trying to connect. Details: “An error happened while reading data from the provider: ‘Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types.’”--

If I try to refresh an existing connection I get some errors:

--DataSource.Error: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types.'--

--DataSource.Error: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'The given key was not present in the dictionary.'--(If there are some steps in Power Query).



I have a last version of Power Bi, I can connect to the database through MySQL Workbench 8.0 CE without any problem.

I think that problem may be MySQL Connector NET 8.0.32, it's not a last version, last version is MySQL Connector NET 8.0.33, but it doesn't work.

Using last version of the this software, I get an next error:

--This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used.



Microsoft Powe Bi didn't manage to help me, may be somebody has appropriate experience and can help me.

Hi...


I'm trying to start mysql with datadir as a mounted partition but I'm facing permission denied problem and mysql does not starts.


My datadir is: /home/wgn/mnt/mysql8data/mysql

that is mounted as below:

/dev/sdb1 on /home/wgn/mnt/mysql8data type ext4 (rw,relatime,seclabel,errors=remount-ro)


And permissions of my data dir are:

Dear Friends,

I have setup a Remote MySQL in my cpanel server.

In my vscode i setup SQL Tool extension and i connected to my Remote MySQL.

i can make query and select from my Remote MySQL.

Now my i created a small form where i want to submit my form data and stored in my Remote MySQL in the cpanel not localhost in my pc.

below is my connection code :

Desktop application had mysql 5.x (community edition) packaged and installed using InstallAnywhere without any user interaction at least for the mysql part. Upgrading Mysql to 8.x requires VisualBasic which requires more user interaction. How to solve this problem and keep the same user experience when it comes to installing the desktop app with mysql upgraded to 8,x?

Hello.

My local MySql version stopped working suddenly and I could not figure out why.
I tried to install it again and now it won't initialize.
I have downloaded the latest installer and nothing helps.

Another strange thing is that the error message is more or less the same as one posted here a few weeks ago in this tread.

The strange this is the word Wondershare (video editing tool). I deleted these files a few days ago (maybe when things stopped working)

Also, the data folder is not even created, so I can not delete it.

Mysql workbench installer for windows on arm laptop (no replies)

Hello, you may know that there is no installer for ARM laptops except iOS devices.

While there are alternatives like SQLyog, they don't entirely replace MySQL.

Do you have any plans to provide an installer for ARM machines in the future? I would be grateful if you could share any information about such a plan.

I am upgrading Windows MySQL from version 8.0.21 to 8.0.36, but the paths are not located in C:. When using the offline installer, I am not given the option to upgrade, and the architecture is shown as not specified. Additionally, the machine does not have internet access.

I installed MySQL Server 5.7.44 on the MS Surface Go3 normally.
But I can't install on MS Surface Go4.
There is an error when initializing the database.
The MS Surface Go4 has UFS storage. Not sure if this is a storage problem or not.

Hello guys, I'm really newbie in this database.
I have the following problem, I have downloaded the MYSQL version 8.0 above, and also its respective workbench. So when I was trying to ADD MySQL connection it appears the next error "Failed to Connect to MySQL at 127.0.0.1:3306 with user root""Acces denied for user 'root'@'localhost'(using password:yes"

Mysql ODBC Connector Options are missing in installer (no replies)

I was trying to install MySQL 8 64 Bit + ODBC Connector 32 bit on new Asus i3 laptop. I completed all windows updates and then install Mysql Installer 1.6 also updated all product updates also but It was ony showing me option 1 Mysql, 2 Application, 3 Documentation only. ODBC Connector options are missing from installer. I tried offline and online version both behaves same way. I checked there is no filter set

If I download installer for mysql ODBC connector it automatically install 64 Bit version no choice to select.

Hi Guys I'm begginer student of sql, Im having problem with the instalation of MySql Community, when I get to "Apply Configuration" all the topics are sucessfully executed except the topic "Updating permissions for the data folder and related server files" and the description of the error says "Attempting to update the permissions for the data folder and related server files...The data directory does not exist. Failed to update permissions for the data folder and related server files. Ended configuration step: Updating permissions for the data folder and related server files".
Someone can help me to fix this error ? I'll be endless gratefull

I cannot create a new root password (no replies)

Greetings,

I am trying to install MySQL (version 8.0.32) on my laptop. However, whenever I try to set a new root password, I keep getting a red X with a message that says "MySQL Server is not running, a connection cannot be established". This is despite being connected to the internet. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall MySQL multiple times, but to no avail.

I am using Windows 11 and I downloaded the mysql-installer-community-8.0.39.0

While configuring the mysql server, it threw an error in "Initializing Database" step. Below is the log from the configuration setup:

ich arbeite mit Server 9.1.
1. Der Installationsassistent zeigt nicht alle installierten Produkte an
2. Wenn ich den Server aktualisiere und einen Neustart durchführe, akzeptiert er mein Passwort nicht
3. Ich kann nur vorher deinstallieren (DB sichern), dann neu starten und danach wieder 9.1 installieren
4. DB-Sicherung einspielen

Mit der 32bit-Version ging es mit dem Installationsassistenten perfekt. Was kann ich machen?

MySQL for Excel error (no replies)

When running MySQL for Excel in Excel the following error occurs

Connection attempt failed

The key provided is not found in the dictionary.


Both MySQL and Excel are working and I can access from Excel to MySQL via ODBC.

I have disabled Firewall and Antivirus and it gives the same problem, reinstalled connectors and MySqServer, in the logs I do not see any related error.

With the user and password I can access from the Workbench and from other Data Sources via ODBC in Excel itself, the problem is only in the MySql for Excel component, I have tried with other previous versions and also give the same problem.


Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?


The versions of the installed components are:

Windows 11 Home 24H2

MySQL Server MySQL Server 8.0.40

MySQL For Excel 1.3.8

MySQL Connector ODBC 9.1 (64 bits)

MySQL Connector NET 9.0.0

Error on Reinstall (1 reply)

Hi all,
I uninstalled MySQL server because I could not reset the root password and could not log into the server.
Now, I cannot install, using the web installer nor the full MSI installer. The error I get is: Internal Error. (Error retrieving product version.)

I deleted the MySQL folders in the Program Files and AppData folder as well. Not sure what else to look at.

Windows 11, 64 bit. I have Visual C++ 2015-2022 and Visual Studio 2019/2022 installed. There is one ODBC connector that didn't want to be removed and I was able to reinstall the Workbench.
